Australian Government Planning to Rescue Families of ISIS Fighters from Syria

Canberra has decided to rescue hundreds of Australian women and children of ISIS fighters from Syrian refugee camps, establishing a secret mission followed by its security intelligence agency, media reported on Monday (03 October 2022).

Still, the Australian government has not confirmed that almost 16 women and 42 children of jailed or dead ISIS fighters residing in camps for more than three and half years would be repatriated. A spokesperson of Home Affairs Minister Claire’ O Neil told to media, “The Australian Government's priority is dedicated to protecting its citizens and  Australia’s national interests, confirmed by a national security advisor.”  However, it’s involved in the sensitive matters category, no need to comment further. O Neil didn’t respond to a call by her opposition counterpart for the government to assure Aussies that anyone who had been radicalized posed no threat on their return to Australia.

Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek informed publicly on Monday that almost forty-five Australian children living in a Syrian camp and some of their moms were compelled and married off to ISIS fighters when they were very young.

Plibersek also informed Channel 7 official interview, “When they return to Australia, it’s mandatory to keep on under proper security and counseling to end up their radicalized mind.” She also said, “In case of everyone returning to Australia, our security and intelligence agencies will be in touch with them closely and monitor them every minute activities.

Australia first rescued eight children and grandchildren of two dead ISIS fighters from a Syrian refugee camp in 2019 but waiting and planning to repatriate all others further.
